Crazed Sports Writer Hates Toyota Trucks?

Meisler Denver Toyota Tacoma

Denver Post sports writer Natalie Meisler allegedly keys a new Toyota Tacoma over a parking dispute

Here’s a funny story for you: Allegedly, Denver Post college sports writer Natalie Meisler (seen above) keyed a brand new Toyota Tacoma in a grocery store parking lot. The reason? The truck took her parking space:

Robert Knight, 43, told police he was driving his 2011 silver Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with his wife and children as passengers about 5:45 p.m. Sunday when he spotted a parking space at Whole Foods and switched on his turn signal to enter it. Then a woman driving a green Honda Civic pulled into the spot.

Knight said he tapped his horn twice and gestured at his blinking turn signal and that the woman flailed her arms and mouthed what he said was an obscene comment before pulling out of the parking spot, letting Knight park his truck there. As Knight’s wife shopped in Whole Foods, Knight sat in his parked truck and ‘heard a grinding sound, turned around and saw Meisler on the outside of Knight’s vehicle where “he could see her hands moving back and forth near the vehicle.”

Funny, right? At least unless you’re the man with the new Tacoma. We’re only getting one side of the story here, but Meisler doesn’t do a whole lot to deny this version of events. She offered no comment to Denver’s KMGH.

While it’s certainly possible that Meisler is innocent, it’s hard to imagine a new truck owner purposefully keying his own vehicle just to make someone else look bad. Just for fun, I’ve come up with a list of possible reasons this woman keyed this Tacoma…

1. Her industry (print media) is undergoing a slow, painful death, and she’s decided to blame it all on Japan.

2. She’s mad at the Tacoma because it’s success has led to Ford canceling the Ranger.

3. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda took Meisler out on a date while he attended Babson College in Massachusetts, but then he never called.

4. She forgot to take her pills.

5. She still hasn’t gotten over the fact that CU football switched from the Big 12 to the Pac-10.

6. She’s starting a one woman crime spree to publicize her column and keep it from getting shut down.

7. The owner of the Toyota Tacoma was a real jerk.

Whatever the reason, the big picture here is avoid confrontations while driving. While most people can let a little thing like a parking space go, some – clearly – can not. Be careful, new truck owners…this could happen to you! 🙂
