Toyota Tacoma Faces Winter Test – Canadian Newspaper Review

Derek McNaughton of The Gazette (Montreal, Ontario, Canada) was recently given a tremendous opportunity to put the 2012 Toyota Tacoma through the paces of a Canadian winter. McNaughton was provided a Tacoma TRD for eight weeks by a dealer, rather than the standard one week road test, and tasked with seeing how it stood up against the challenges of winter.

Canadian Newspaper Reviews Toyota Tacoma

Derek McNaughton of the Gazette, a Canadian Newspaper, recently put the Toyota Tacoma through an eight week road test.

McNaughton’s plans for his eight week road test include presenting the Tacoma Doublecab 4×4 V6 with the challenge of reaching his winter cabin. McNaughton has previously tested an Audi Q5 and the 2010 Toyota 4Runner under the same conditions, and planned to use the diaries from those adventures as a measuring stick for the 2012 Tacoma.

The Toyota Tacoma came out swinging in the first week of McNaughton’s road test as it mastered the unpaved lane leading to his wood heated winter cabin in Westport, Ontario. He noted that the Tacoma’s electronically controlled two-speed transfer case made accessing four-wheel drive a breeze. As McNaughton tackled freezing rain and snow in the Tacoma, he also noted the vehicle benefited from well-chosen Toyo Observe GSi-5 winter tires.

Other benefits that McNaughton noted in the first week of his road test included a suspension system that matched up, in his opinion, with that of larger trucks such as the Ford F-250. He also noted the bed was made of a durable composite material that was not slippery when covered with snow or rain.

It wasn’t all roses for the 2012 Tacoma though. McNaughton did note downsides that included poor fuel economy, a smaller than standard gap between the wheel wells in the truck bed, and a lack of cargo space and pockets in the cab of the truck.

When I see a bad review by a complete RETARD, I usually will pick it apart point by point. In this case, EVERY point is so hopelessly wrong in every possible way, that there is simply no point in tackling it. The clown who wrote that review is a total douche.

Somebody – I agree. Anyone who says they didn’t like a truck because it got bad gas mileage and didn’t ride like a car doesn’t get it.
