KBB Says Tacoma Resale Value Industry Best
The Toyota Tacoma has won a lot of accolades over the years, but for some reason quite a few people don’t trust awards.

The Tacoma is KBB.com's 2010 Best Resale Value Award Winner in the entire truck segment (including full-size).
Maybe it’s the belief that media companies selling awards to the highest bidder, but there seems to be a popular mistrust of recognition like the IntelliChoice “Best Overall Value” award for 22 or the last 23 years, the U.S. News and World Reports “Best Car for the Money” award, top pickup awards from Truck Trend, Motor Trend, and others, and numerous quality awards from R.L. Polk and JD Power. Despite all the evidence, there’s still that person who says “So – those awards don’t mean anything.”
Well, for that person who claims that every Tacoma award was bought and paid for, how do you explain this: KBB.com and Automotive Leasing Guide (ALG) have both rated the Tacoma as having the highest resale value in it’s class for 2010. Resale value is measurable and easily proven…it’s not something you can “buy.”
Tacoma Resale Value is King
Resale value is a critical consideration in any new car purchase. Here’s why:
- Resale value is an indicator of quality and reliability. Vehicles with poor reputations for quality never have a high resale value.
- High resale value gives you options. Even if you fully intend to buy a drive a new Tacoma until the wheels fall off, there’s always the possibility that things will change. Sometimes you have to replace a vehicle when you don’t want to…high resale makes that process easier.
What makes the Tacoma’s industry best resale value even more impressive is that it’s also the industry’s best-selling compact pickup. It’s not as if Toyota is only making a small number of Tacomas every year and then benefiting from that low volume to boost resale.
Bottom line: Even if you throw away all the quality and value awards, at the end of the day one thing is certain – the Tacoma is the best possible way to spend your money if you’re buying a new compact pickup.
I’m wondering if this is still a top truck for resale value. If it is, I may consider sticking with Toyota trucks in the future!
