Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock – An Overview

What it Is and What it Does: It’s an extra-strong steel lock that fits under your Tacoma’s tailgate handle that keeps people from opening the tailgate without a key.

Pop and Lock Tailgate Handle Lock

The Pop and Lock Tailgate Handle Lock - looks factory, install is easy, and the cost is about $60

Who It’s For: Tailgate locks are usually for people who have tonneau covers, but not always. If you own a tonneau cover, the Pop & Lock will turn your truck bed into a giant locking trunk. If you don’t own a tonneau cover, the biggest benefit to a Pop & Lock is to keep your tailgate from walking away on it’s own.

Key Features:

  1. It’s designed to look “factory” – it won’t stick out as an after-market part
  2. It’s made from armored steel – the manufacturer says it would take a plasma torch to cut this lock
  3. Installation is fast and easy – 15 minutes or so
  4. It’s made in the USA

Anything on how it stands up to tampering or pulling off of the handle or how it is attached? A little more protection doesn’t hurt!

Jon – All the comments on AutoAnything.com (you can see them by clicking on the price link) are that this thing works really, really well, but I’ve never tested it. Can’t say for sure.

How does this affect, or does it affect the back up camera?

      Joedog,

Don’t think it affects it at all.
